Abstract

Apart from diabetes, thyroid dysfunction is the most prevalent endocrine condition during pregnancy. The development of the foetal brain during the embryonic stage depends on thyroid hormones. Preterm birth, hypertension, miscarriage, and low birth weight are just a few of the serious negative outcomes that maternal thyroid dysfunction during pregnancy may have for both the mother and the foetus.
