The Role of Proton NMR in Metabolomics and Biomolecular Research
Received Date: Feb 01, 2025 / Published Date: Feb 27, 2025
Abstract
Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (¹H NMR) spectroscopy is a powerful analytical tool widely employed in metabolomics and biomolecular research. It provides structural and quantitative insights into small metabolites and macromolecules, aiding in disease biomarker identification, drug discovery, and systems biology. The non-destructive and high-throughput capabilities of ¹H NMR make it an invaluable technique for studying complex biological systems. This article explores the principles of proton NMR, its applications in metabolomics and biomolecular research, advantages over other analytical techniques, and the challenges associated with its use. Furthermore, emerging trends and future prospects in NMR-based biomolecular studies are discussed
