Abstract
Inland fisheries play a critical role in supporting local economies and enhancing food security, particularly in rural areas. This paper examines the economic significance of inland fisheries by analyzing their contributions to community livelihoods, market dynamics, and regional development. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature and case studies, we explore how inland fisheries provide employment opportunities, contribute to local income generation, and foster sustainable resource use. Additionally, the paper discusses the challenges faced by inland fisheries, including overfishing, habitat degradation, and the impacts of climate change, which threaten their long-term viability. By highlighting successful initiatives and best practices that bridge community needs with market opportunities, this study aims to provide insights into how inland fisheries can be effectively managed and promoted as a sustainable economic resource. The findings underscore the importance of integrating local knowledge and stakeholder participation in policy development to ensure that inland fisheries continue to benefit communities while contributing to regional economic growth. Ultimately, this paper advocates for a more nuanced understanding of the economic potential of inland fisheries, emphasizing their role in fostering resilience and sustainable development in both local and regional contexts.
