Abstract

Palliative care plays a crucial role in the management of colorectal cancer, a leading cause of cancer-related morbidity and mortality worldwide. This approach focuses not only on alleviating physical symptoms associated with the disease and its treatment but also on addressing the psychological, emotional, and social needs of patients and their families. This paper explores the multidimensional aspects of palliative care in colorectal cancer, emphasizing the importance of a holistic approach to patient care. Key components include effective pain management, the management of gastrointestinal symptoms, psychological support, and the facilitation of advance care planning. By integrating palliative care early in the disease trajectory, healthcare providers can enhance the quality of life for patients, reduce the burden of symptoms, and support families in navigating the challenges of colorectal cancer.
