Abstract

Beneath the shimmering surface of coastal waters lies a hidden treasure trove of biodiversity: seagrass beds. These submerged meadows, composed of flowering plants adapted to marine environments, play a critical role in the health and functioning of coastal ecosystems worldwide. From providing habitat and food for diverse marine life to stabilizing sediments and sequestering carbon, seagrass beds serve as invaluable ecosystems with far-reaching ecological and socioeconomic benefits.
