Abstract

Smoking during pregnancy is a critical public health issue that poses significant risks to both maternal and
neonatal health. This article reviews the prevalence, mechanisms, and consequences of smoking during pregnancy,
highlighting the detrimental effects on fetal development, birth outcomes, and long-term health implications. It also
discusses interventions aimed at reducing smoking rates among pregnant women and emphasizes the need for
continued public health efforts to mitigate the risks associated with tobacco use during pregnancy.
