Abstract
The Unani Medicine system since ages has been known for the use of Plants Minerals and Animal origins drugs. There are many Unani formulations composed of herbs and minerals and Animal origin drugs, which are used as Muqawwi-e-aam (general body tonic), vital organ tonic. Marwareed (pearl) is one of such animal drug used in Unani medicine since ancient times. The actions of Marwareed (pearl) is described in the Unani classical books are as, Exhilarant, enhances body faculties and vital force, tonic for vital organs, general tonic, improves eye sight, cardiac tonic, anti-depressant. It is useful in Palpitations, phobia, weakness of heart etc.
