Innovative Solutions for Treating High-Salinity Organic Wastewater Using Advanced Oxidation Processes
Received Date: Nov 01, 2024 / Published Date: Nov 29, 2024
Abstract
High-salinity organic wastewater presents significant challenges due to its complex composition and environmental impact. Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) have emerged as a promising treatment method, leveraging Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) to degrade refractory organic pollutants. This study reviews the efficacy of various AOPs, including Fenton, photo catalysis, ozone-based oxidation, and electrochemical oxidation, for treating high-salinity organic wastewater. A detailed analysis of mechanisms, efficiency, limitations, and the impact of salinity on ROS generation is presented. The results demonstrate that AOPs, particularly hybrid systems, offer substantial pollutant removal while adapting to high saline conditions. Future directions are discussed to enhance scalability, cost-efficiency, and environmental sustainability
