Abstract

Implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) have revolutionized the management of life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias; significantly improving patient outcomes and quality of life. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the function and benefits of ICDs in defending against sudden cardiac death.
