Abstract

Forensic nursing is a dynamic and multidisciplinary professional discipline that bridges the gap between the realms of medicine and the justice system. It encompasses a diverse range of specialized skills and knowledge that enable forensic nurses to provide critical support and expertise in the investigation and resolution of complex legal cases involving victims, perpetrators, and communities. It provide a concise overview of the essential components of forensic nursing, exploring its fundamental principles, roles, and responsibilities. Forensic nurses serve as invaluable members of the healthcare team, assisting in the identification and documentation of injuries, collecting evidence, and conducting thorough examinations of victims of violence, abuse, or criminal acts. Moreover, forensic nursing extends beyond direct patient care, encompassing expert testimony in court proceedings, collaboration with law enforcement agencies, and educational initiatives for both medical professionals and the general public. The ability to communicate effectively and maintain impartiality are critical attributes in this profession, as forensic nurses often find themselves at the intersection of justice and healing. The scope of forensic nursing covers various specialties, including sexual assault examination, death investigation, domestic violence intervention, and correctional nursing. By employing evidence-based practices and cutting-edge technologies, forensic nurses contribute to the pursuit of truth and justice while ensuring the preservation of the victims' dignity and rights.
