Abstract

objective: Most prevalent malignancy of the mouth is oral squamous cell carcinoma Which is devided to grades I,II,III according to histologic criteria and degree of differentiation Local recurrence and lymph node metastasis is the most usual cause of treatment failure . Although OSCC is a tumor that can arise without external influence, but it usually arise from precancerous lesions and situations. Many recent studies performed on cellular proteins to use as prognostic or target therapy in OSCC specially in those with higher stages or grades.Cytokeratins are cellular skeletal proteins which exclusively expressed by epithelial cells and malignancies arising from them, like OSCC. The aim of this study is to evaluate the expression of ck7 and ck20 gene in OSCC grades I, II, III and dysplastic epithelium by q-rt-PCR and new RNA extraction method from paraffin blocks.
