Environmental mineralogy investigates the interaction between minerals and the environment, focusing on their impacts and remediation strategies. Minerals influence environmental quality through processes such as contaminant sorption, acid mine drainage, and particulate pollution. Effective remediation strategies include passive treatment systems, neutralization, phytoremediation, and engineered materials.
