Abstract
Dental cavities, also known as dental caries or tooth decay, are a prevalent oral health concern affecting individuals of all ages. This abstract provides a brief overview of dental cavities, including their causes, preventive measures, and treatment strategies. The development of a dental cavity involves a complex interplay between bacteria, oral hygiene practices, and dietary habits. Streptococcus mutans and other bacteria residing in the oral cavity metabolize sugars and produce acid, leading to the demineralization of tooth enamel. Poor oral hygiene, excessive sugar consumption, and inadequate fluoride exposure contribute to cavity formation.
