Drug abuse and mental health are inextricably linked, creating a cycle that can be difficult to break. Often referred to as a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorders, individuals who suffer from substance abuse problems frequently also experience mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder.
