Abstract

The Diabetes Epidemiology Research International (DERI) Mortality Study in Japan explores the causes of death in individuals with childhood-onset type 1 diabetes undergoing dialysis. Undertaking a retrospective cohort design, the study meticulously analyzes mortality data to unravel the complex interplay of diabetes-related complications and dialysis-specific factors influencing mortality outcomes. Preliminary results highlight prominent contributors such as cardiovascular events, renal failure, and diabetic nephropathy [1,2].
