Abstract

Urban design and urban planning are integral components of shaping the physical, social, and economic characteristics of cities. Urban design focuses on the aesthetic and functional qualities of the built environment, while urban planning encompasses broader strategies for managing growth, development, and public resources within urban areas. This paper explores the interconnected nature of urban design and urban planning, highlighting their roles in creating sustainable, livable, and inclusive cities. It examines key principles, methodologies, and tools employed by urban designers and planners to address various challenges such as population growth, environmental sustainability, transportation, housing, and social equity.
