Abstract
The chemical and physiological mechanisms that lead to the development of Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and similar neuro-degenerative conditions are clearly very complex. The author contends that traditional structural modelling of the pathogenesis using linear 2 or 3 dimensional descriptions and diagrams are insufficiently flexible to cope with the large number of inter-dependent variables. It is proposed that computer models programmed to apply learning algorithms and conditional logic will be essential to enable an understanding of neuro-pathogenesis to progress.
