Abstract

This comprehensive review, authored by the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) Early Detection and Screening Committee, critically examines the intricate relationship between air pollution and lung cancer. With increasing global concerns about air quality and its impact on public health, this review synthesizes current scientific knowledge to elucidate the connections between various air pollutants and the development of lung cancer. The review discusses the mechanisms through which air pollutants interact with lung tissues, leading to genetic and cellular alterations that contribute to carcinogenesis [1]. Additionally, the implications for early detection and screening strategies are explored, emphasizing the importance of identifying high-risk populations and implementing effective screening programs.
