Abstract

African Traditional Medicine (ATM) represents a diverse and culturally rich system of healing practices that have been passed down through generations across the African continent. This abstract provides an overview of ATM's historical roots, healing philosophies, and pharmacological potential. Rooted in indigenous knowledge and spiritual beliefs, ATM encompasses a wide range of therapeutic modalities, including herbal medicine, spiritual healing, divination, and ritualistic practices. The efficacy of ATM in treating various ailments has been recognized through centuries of empirical evidence, although scientific validation and standardization remain ongoing challenges.
