The usually-safe and well-tolerated enhancing agent can make your heart's structures appear more clearly on a monitor. After hitting blood cells moving through your heart and blood vessels, sound waves change pitch. These changes, which are Doppler signals, will make it easier for your doctor to see how fast and in which direction your heart's blood flows. Transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms typically use Christian Johann Doppler techniques. Christian Johann Doppler techniques can also detect issues with blood flow and pressure in the heart's arteries that traditional ultrasound cannot.
