Abstract
ABSTRACT:Uterine leiomyosarcoma is a highly lethal malignancy. It affects approximately 0.4/100 000 women each year. The aim of this study is to assess p16 and p53 gene expression, Estrogen & progesterone receptor positivity, treatment, and prognosis of women diagnosed with uterine leiomyosarcoma. The median patient age was 45 years (range, 28-54 years). The pre-operative diagnosis of sarcoma was suspected in 15/39 patients only. Total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy were performed for all patients, with additional surgical procedures (e.g., tumor resection, lymphadenectomy) performed if necessary
