South Korea, formally the Republic of Korea is a sovereign kingdom in East Asia, constituting the southern a part of the Korean Peninsula. The name Korea derives from the word Goryeo, the first Korean dynasty visited with the aid of Persian traders who stated Koryo as Korea.

South Korea occupies the southern portion of the Korean Peninsula, which extends some 1,100 km from the Asian mainland. The country  lies between latitudes 33° and 39°N, and longitudes 124° and a 130°E. South Korea tends to have a humid continental weather and a humid subtropical weather.  Jeju-do is set 100 kilometres off the southern coast of South Korea. It is the country's biggest island, with an area of 1,845km.

South Korea's populace was estimated to be around 50.6 million. South Korea's marketplace economy ranks 13th within the international by each nominal and purchasing power parity GDP, identifying it as one of the G-20 important economies. It is a developed country with a high-income economic system and is the most industrialized member of the OECD. It is the 5th biggest exporter and 7th biggest importer inside the international. South Korea is also the various worlds’ maximum technologically superior and digitally-connected nations.

South Korea has a universal healthcare system. Life expectancy has been rising rapidly and Korea ranked 9th in the world for life expectancy at 82 years in 2013, ranking 4th in the world at 85 years. Seoul National University Hospital does an expanding research in the field of Orthopedics. They publish extensive journals relating to this subject.
