Evidence suggests that a well-balanced diet, rich in essential nutrients, can aid in neuroplasticity, reduce inflammation, and improve overall health. This article discusses specific dietary components, such as antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, and fiber, that contribute to recovery, as well as practical strategies for implementing these dietary changes. By prioritizing nutrition in stroke rehabilitation, healthcare providers can enhance recovery outcomes, promote independence, and improve the quality of life for stroke survivors

Introduction

Stroke is a leading cause of long-term disability worldwide, significantly impacting the lives of millions of individuals and their families. It occurs when blood flow to the brain is disrupted, leading to cell death and potential loss of neurological functions. Recovery from a stroke is a multifaceted process that often requires comprehensive rehabilitation, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. However, one critical aspect of stroke recovery that is frequently overlooked is nutrition [1].

Proper nutrition plays a vital role in the healing process, influencing not only physical recovery but also cognitive function and overall health. Stroke survivors often experience changes in appetite, dietary preferences, and nutritional needs, making it essential to focus on dietary interventions that support healing and promote recovery.
