Preventive medicine focuses on the health of individuals and societies. It consists of measures taken for disease prevention and health promotion. The objective of preventive medicine is to promote health and well-being and prevent disease, infirmity and death. Health, disease, and infirmity are dynamic processes which begin before symptoms occur and individuals recognize they are affected. Disease prevention relies on anticipatory actions that can be characterized as primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention. The knowledge in medicine, social, economic, and behavioural sciences to increase the health and excellence of life of individuals, families, communities and populations through disease prevention and health promotion.
Oral diseases are extremely widespread and a worldwide burden. Accordingly, their prevention appears necessary. Newly, different strategies have been developed, mainly focusing on the company of remarkable oral diseases or circumstances.
Public Health is the science of preventing disease, continuing life and promoting health through the systematized efforts of the public. Actions to reinforce public health capacities and service aim to provide conditions under which people can preserve to be healthy, recover their health and well-being, or prevent the deteriorating of their health. Public health focuses on the whole spectrum of health, not only the extinction of particular diseases.
According to a published article, about 72% of deaths in the USA are due to cancer, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes, which lead to 76% of health expenditure of USA. The typical example of preventive medicine is immunization of little ones through vaccination, which reduces the financial liability over the economy of any country by saving a immense number of children, teenagers and adults from several life frightening diseases. Other samples include cancer screenings for ovarian cancer, testicular cancer and prostate cancer via PSA tests.
Public health and general preventive medicine focuses on encouraging health and averting disease in personalities and communities. Occupational medicine focuses on the physical and mental health of workers by seeking to improve the physical, structural and social circumstances of the workplace. The health, safety and routine of crewmembers and passengers of air and space vehicles, working closely with support personnel who support in their process in Aerospace Medicine.
