A 22-year-old woman who previously diagnosed Crohn’s disease was admitted with a 1-month history of diarrhea. She reported that during the preceding 3 months, she had stopped taking her drugs for Crohn’s disease. She was not able to tread on her left foot. On examination, there was an erythematous, non-purpuric, painful, slightly nodular and, 3-4 cm diameter lesion (Figure 1). Plantar erythema nodosum was diagnosed associated with Crohn’s disease and steroid treatment was started. Resolution of the lesion was noted at follow-up 2 weeks later. Plantar erythema nodosum is a very rare entity and typically occurs insidiously in children with good health. There was only one plantar erythema nodosum case associated with Crohn’s disease in the literature (Figures 1 and 2).
