Occupational Health Nursing is a professional nursing practice that provides and provides health and safety programs and services to workers, worker groups, and community groups [1]. The practice focuses on promoting, maintaining and recovering health, preventing illness and injury, and protecting against work-related and environmental hazards. Occupational Health Nurses (OHNs) aim to combine health and business knowledge to strike a balance between a safe and healthy work environment and “healthy” earnings. Occupational nursing is found in almost all major medical facilities. Occupational medicine is a nursing niche that specializes in assessing and assessing the "health" of employees and helps maintain the highest levels of well-being in the workforce. Key elements of workplace health care include workplace illness and injury prevention, health and welfare, protection and education [2]. Occupational health and safety nurses are also responsible for conducting research projects and incorporating evidence-based practices into clinical practice. Workplace health care is an important niche and serves to protect and promote the well-being of the community and workforce. The modern role of occupational physicians is as diverse as clinicians and educators [3]. As the profession progresses, it is also responsible for this profession. Areas covered by professional nurses include, but are not limited to the below:
1. Case management: OHN regularly coordinates and manages the care of sick and injured workers. The role of vocational nurses as case managers to assist in the coordination and management of workrelated and non-work-related injuries and illnesses such as group health, worker accident compensation, and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) became short-term / long-term disability.
2. Health Promotion and Risk Reduction: OHN develops programs that encourage lifestyle changes and individual efforts to reduce the risk of illness and injury. OHN also helps create an environment that promotes a sense of balance between work, family, individual, health and mental health concerns. Additional strategies to support health promotion to maintain worker health and productivity include immunity, quitting, exercise / health, diet and weight management, stress management, chronic disease management [4], and medical services included.
3. Counseling and Crisis Intervention: Occupational Health Nurses (OHN) provides counseling to workers on a wide range of issues. They provide advice on common issues such as work-related issues and injuries. We also provide counseling on other issues such as substance abuse, psychological issues, and health and welfare concerns. OHN can also manage employee assistance programs, conduct referrals, and coordinate follow-up for community resources.
Identifying Workplace Hazards: OHN are responsible for identification of workplace hazards or potential hazards. They are able to conduct investigations to monitor, evaluate and analyze certain dangerous factors [5]. By conducting an investigation, you can develop a security plan and implement preventative and control measures. Examples of workplace hazards include exposure to toxic chemicals, enclosed spaces, frayed cords, exposure to infectious substances, extreme heat / cold, and injuries such as falls. It is important to recognize patterns and make changes to promote a safer work environment.
