Abstract

Hair loss not only hereditary and age-related but can be the first sign of medical disorder like anemia, hypothyroidism, diabetes, polycystic ovaries, stress and other. Trichology, the specialized science of hair, used in combination with Homoeopathy, is the best suited to diagnose the type of hair loss, it cause and remedy. This paper deals with the homeopathic treatment of hair loss.

Introduction

Hair, our crowning glory, not only represents beauty, power and strength but much more. A study showed that 41% of men with full heads of hair were selected for job interviews compared to only 27% of balding men rejection at work and marriage can result in loss of self-esteem and can even lead to depression and suicide 25% of men do experience hair loss before they attain the age of 21 (Figures 1 and 2).

Hair loss can affect both the genders in men and in women. It is estimated that 13% of women suffer from baldness before they menopause stage [1,2].

Normal Hair Cycle

                           Anagen

(Growth phase: upto 85%hair this phase)

(Resting phase: upto 1% hair in this phase)

                              ↓

                         Telogen

(Falling phase: upto: 15%hair in this phase)

Causes

Positive family history

Genetic and Seborrheic Dermatitis.

Metabolic disorder

Hypertension, Diabetes, and High Cholesterol.

Nutrition deficiency

Protein, Iron, Vitamin B12, Folic acid and Biotin.

Underlying disease

Thyroid Disorder, Ovarian Cysts, PCOS in women, Use of contraseptic pills, monoposal female.

Symptoms

Excessive hair fall, Baldness, Low density, Thin hair, Dandruff, and Itching scalp [3].

Examination

1. Pulling test of hair: To know no. of hair falling during pulling finger in hair.

2. Video microscope hair examination: Scalp Condition (Dry, Oily, Scaly, etc.) TV Ratio (a ratio of terminal and vellus hair should be 90:10), Caliber (Thickness of hair).

Homoeopathic Approach

1. Constitutional medicines by case history with repertization.

2. Therapeutics repertization (Kent Reperty): Head Hair, Falling- Carb-s., carb-v., grap., Lach., fl-ac. Nat-m, sep, thuj. Hair bald-ness: Baryta Carb. Patches-apis., phis. sep., Color Change-kali-i. Grief From- Ph.-ac Menopause-Sepia.

Aesthetic Treatment

Laser comb hair therapy; HVT (hair vitalizing therapy); Mesotherapy; Stem cell therapy.

Conclusion

The homeopathic medicines are one of the best medicines available for the treatment of hair loss in both men and women. By using homeopathic medicines the other treatment lice Laser comb hair therapy, HVT, MESO, STEM cell etc. can be avoided. If the continues dosages of homeopathy is prescribed and the recovery is monitored than the hair loss can be cured.
