Introduction
Exercise training at the maximal fat oxidation (FATmax) intensity has gained increasing attention in recent years as a potential strategy for optimizing fat metabolism during exercise [1]. FATmax refers to the exercise intensity at which the highest rate of fat oxidation occurs, and it is often used as a marker of the intensity at which exercise can be sustained for longer periods of time without fatigue [2].
Exercise training at the maximal fat oxidation (FATmax) intensity has been shown to improve fat metabolism during exercise, body composition, and insulin sensitivity in overweight and obese individuals. However, it is important to consider individual factors such as age, fitness level, and diet when determining the appropriate exercise intensity for training [3-5]. Training at the FATmax intensity may not be suitable for everyone, and it may not be optimal for improving maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max), an important marker of cardiovascular fitness [6, 7].
