Editor’s Note

This issue of the Journal of Community and Public Health Nursing includes nine Research Articles on a wide variety of topics and one Editorial, one Short Communication, one Commentary and one Mini Review paper deal with dementia, the future health care workforce, the role of nurses in public health and sleep in adolescence.

In the current issue, in a prospective cohort study, Andersen et al. investigated inter-hospital transfer of neonates in southern Vietnam. In another population-based cohort study [1], Akahoshi and Michiaki documented the health checkup data and the lifestyle habits of medicated residents in Japan [2]. In a cross-sectional study, Adinma et al. examined the prevalence and patterns of condom-use among Nigerian university undergraduates [3]. Kabore and Lazar also identified the prevalence and risk factors for pre-hypertension among adults in West Africa [4]. Moreover, Aydin et al. explored tetanus toxoid vaccination and prenatal care coverage during pregnancy in Turkey [5]. In a retrospective study in the United States, Zha et al. revealed the potential contribution that a community-based Registered Nurse/Community Health Worker healthcare delivery model can have in addressing health disparities in underserved communities. In a qualitative study [6], Rahayuwati et al. assessed the patterns of health-seeking behavior among patients with breast cancer from the perspective of health care providers and patients in Indonesia [7]. In another qualitative study, McNeil et al. investigated perceptions of mothers, nurses and decision-makers involved in implementing Centering Parenting program in public health clinics in Canada [8]. Finally, Nohaji et al. documented the challenges in the management of tuberculosis that could contribute to drug resistant tuberculosis in South Africa in a mixed study (qualitative and quantitative study) [9].
