Child nutrition plays a pivotal role in shaping the health and wellbeing of individuals from an early age. The period of childhood is marked by rapid growth, both physically and mentally, making it crucial for children to receive adequate nutrition to meet their developmental needs. Proper nutrition during this phase not only supports optimal physical growth but also influences cognitive development, immune function, and the prevention of chronic diseases later in life [3].
Unfortunately, child malnutrition remains a significant global challenge. According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 149 million children under the age of five are stunted due to chronic malnutrition, while 45 million children suffer from wasting, indicating acute malnutrition. These conditions not only hinder children's immediate health but also have long-term consequences, including impaired cognitive development, decreased educational attainment, and increased susceptibility to infections. Multiple factors contribute to the prevalence of child malnutrition. Poverty, food insecurity, inadequate access to nutritious foods, inappropriate feeding practices, and limited healthcare resources are among the key determinants. Furthermore, conflicts, natural disasters, and environmental factors can exacerbate the problem, particularly in vulnerable populations.
