By stimulating specific points on the body, acupuncture is believed to activate mechanisms such as the release of endogenous opioids and modulation of neural pathways involved in pain perception. This holistic approach aligns with the broader goal of comprehensive cancer care, aiming not only to manage symptoms but also to improve emotional well-being and overall patient outcomes. While challenges like the need for standardized protocols and trained practitioners persist, integrating acupuncture into cancer care protocols holds promise for enhancing therapeutic options and offering personalized pain management strategies tailored to individual patient needs.
