Musculoskeletal disorders are the pain and injuries that occur in the body's joints, muscles, ligaments, nerves, tendons, and structures that support limbs, neck and back. It is a degenerative diseases and inflammatory conditions which impair normal activities and cause pain. Many different parts of the body like upper and lower back, neck, shoulder and other extremities are affected.
There are various causes of musculoskeletal disorders. It may be due to wear and tear of the muscles due to daily activities of muscle which causes damage to the muscles. Trauma to an area can also cause musculoskeletal disorder. Other causes include repetitive movement, postural strain, overuse, and prolonged immobilization. If there occurs to be poor body mechanics or change in posture then it may cause spinal alignment problems and muscle shortening, hence causing other muscles to be misused due to which they become painful. Various treatments are variable to treat muscoskeletal disorders like manual therapy, or mobilization, for those people who have spinal alignment problems. These techniques show fast recovery so they are recommended. Other medications include giving nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories; acetaminophen or opioids to treat inflammation or pain.
