Research Interest

Applied environmental microbiology, Microbial removal of pollutant (Petroleum, heavy oil, inorganic chlorinated compounds; PCE, PCBs) in environment, bioremediation of heavy metals, development and separation of the effective microorganism. Purification enzymes related to the PCE dehalogenase and PCBs-degrading bacteria. Biological treatment of CCA from wood wastes.

I have been doing research for 20 years

2. What is the research topic you are working on now?
My major research topic is “Cold tolerant and hydrocarbon degradative microbial genes and the characterization of cold tolerant microbes of the rhizosphere: a new insight into the degradation of hydrocarbon contaminated Arctic/alpine soil”

Awarded Prize of Secretary of Korea Ministry of Science &Technology through development of Environment-friendly water recycle system

8. How does the research published percolate through to practitioners?
Several published articles have been used as a manual to the practitioners and a few articles became basic theory to develop a practical system for the treatment of waste water

9. What is the purpose of serving as an editor?
To contribute the development of environmental biotechnology

It is a very difficult question. Before mentioning differentiated Journal of Bioremediation & Biodegradation with the other, we need to do our best to become this journal as one of the enrolled PubMed journal
