Cataract surgery is one of the most frequently performed surgical procedures worldwide in restoring useful vision. postoperative endophthalmitis usually leads to irreversible vision loss though it is a rare complication. Different prophylactic measures have been carried out to reduce the number of patients with this complication, including preoperative lash trimming and skin preparation, perioperative topical antibiotics use, subconjunctival antibiotics injection, and antibiotics use in irrigating solutions. giving intracameral cefuroxime at the time of cataract surgery significantly reduced the rate of postoperative endophthalmitis.
