The United States has high mountains in the West and a vast central plain.

The United States is the world's largest national economy and the second largest as per purchasing power parity (PPP). The United States Constitution itself reflects the desire to encourage scientific creativity. It gives the United States Congress the power to promote the progress of science and technology, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries. In engineering current research is going on nuclear energy and radiation, mechanical and thermal sensors.

In Engineering, Medicine, Physics, Chemistry and Economics, USA has produced 335 Nobel laureates so far. In USA Agency for Engineering Research and Development monitors the funding and integration of the R & D related to Engineering technology in the country. Numerous Engineering journals are published from USA with good reputation. Several leading Institution in the country including Harvard School, Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Yale University, Columbia University, Cornell University and many more focuses toward scientific and technological advancements.
