South Africa-This country is located in the southern end of Africa and neighboring by Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, and Zimbabwe.

Geographically, South Africa is located at the southern tip of the continent of Africa the whole country consists of four major islands, they are, Dassen Island, Robben Island, Seal Island and Marion Island (Prince Edward Islands).

South Africa is a developing country, emerging market with an abundant supply of natural resources (gold, chromium, antimony, coal, iron ore, manganese, natural gas etc.); well-developed financial, legal, communications, energy, and transport sectors; and a stock exchange that is Africa’s largest and among the top 20 in the world. The country is pioneer in mining (world's largest producer of platinum, gold, chromium) automobile assembly, metalworking, machinery, textiles, iron and steel, chemicals, fertilizer, food stuffs, commercial ship repair.

So far 11 people were awarded as Nobel laureates in South Africa. Currently most of the research is going on the synthesis Construction Engineering and Management, Water and Environmental Engineering and many more. National Research Foundation of South Africa monitors the funding and for the R & D related to Engineering in the country. University of Stellenbosch University is the leading Institution in Engineering research in South Africa. Numerous Engineering journals were serving to develop the scientific community from South Africa with good reputation. Several leading Journals in the country like South African Journal of Industrial Engineering, Journal of the South African Institution of Civil Engineering, Transactions of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers and Journal of the Mine Ventilation Society of South Africa provides knowledge base over the current researches in Engineering.
