Dr. Shekhar Annambhotla, BAMS, MD (Ayu), LMT, ERYT, RAS,FAAS, BCIM, editor-in-chief, Journal of Homeopathy & Ayurvedic Medicine (JHAM), a classically trained registered ayurvedic specialist, licensed integrative bodywork & massage therapist, registered yoga instructor, certified pranic healer and certified reiki healer has been practicing and teaching ayurveda worldwide since 1988. Dr. Shekhar commenced his studies in Ayurveda at the age of 17 and earned the degree of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.), a 5 ½ year program at Dr. N.R.S. Government Ayurvedic College of Nagarjuna University, Andhra Pradesh State, India. He continued his postgraduate studies, Doctor of Medicine in Ayurveda (M.D. Ayurveda), a 3-year course of study, from Government Akhanadanand Ayurved College of Gujarat Ayurved University, Gujarat State, India from 1988-91. He is a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, Licensed Integrative Bodywork and Massage Therapist, Certified Pranic Healer, Certified Reiki Healer and is also a faculty member of several Ayurveda schools and colleges throughout the USA and abroad. Dr. Shekhar received Fellowship in Ayurveda (F.A.A.S.) from Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America and also Board Certified in Integrative Medicine (BCIM) from American Association of Integrative Medicine, USA. From 1992 – 1994, Dr. Shekhar worked as a Associate Professor at N.K.J. Ayurvedic Medical College (Gulburga University), Bidar, Karnataka State, India. From 1994 – 2001, Dr. Shekhar got an opportunity to serve at Maharishi Vedic Schools and Universities in The Netherlands, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, Great Britain, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Trinidad, Guadeloupe, (West Indies), Jamaica (Caribbean Island), Canada, and the U.S.A. During his extensive travels, he delivered lectures and offered consultations on Ayurveda for health professionals and for the general public. He gave several newspaper interviews and radio talks on Ayurveda and was also interviewed on BBC’s Breakfast Television. Since 2002, Shekhar is the Founding Director of Ojas LLC, Ayurveda Wellness Center, in Pennsylvania, USA. He is also the Founding Director and President of Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America (AAPNA). Shekhar served on the Board of Directors for National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA) from 2005-2010. He has taught Ayurveda courses in many prestigious universities in United States including University of Pennsylvania (UPENN), University of Medicine & Dentistry in NJ (UMDNJ), Hershey Medical School, Jefferson Medical School and others. He is awarded “Tathagat International Excellence Award 2011” in Dubai and received award “Ayurveda Khandantara Sthapanacharya” for promoting Ayurveda around the globe. He is on the editorial board for Light on Ayurveda Journal, MA, USA. His passion and love for ayurveda fuels his vision for the development and growth of ayurveda, including creating and implementing high quality ayurvedic education and training programs in the west.
