Biography

Simone König is a trained physical chemist who obtained her PhD at the University of Leipzig, Germany. Her postdoctoral stay with Henry M. Fales at the National Institutes of Health, USA, introduced her to mass spectrometry and she has continued to work on biological applications of the technique as head of a proteomics platform at the Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research in Muenster, Germany, where she became docent. Her research interests are both in analytical methodology and biomolecular applications. Recent projects include biosensor surfaces, membrane processing, and expression analysis.

Research Interest

Her research involves methodological and instrumental developments as well as biological and medical applications (IR-MALDI, ion sources, protein chips, sequence analysis, protein expression and modification).
