Biography

Javier Jaimovich is a researcher, sound engineer and sound artist based in Santiago, Chile. Javier holds a BA in Music Technology from Universidad de Chile, an MA and a PhD in Sonic Arts from the Sonic Arts Research Centre (SARC) at QUB. His research interests encompass the development of Digital Musical Instruments (DMI), Music and Emotion, BioMusic and BioSignals, Interactive Sound Art and Interactive Systems, and Synchronization and Visualization of Multi-modal Signals. Additionally, Javier likes to create interactive sound art installations (see Ground Me!, Chain of Emotion, AffecTech, Sound on a String, perform as a musician (Sicotropa) and produce albums. Javier has worked as a lecturer both in Chile and the UK, and as an assistant researcher for the EU FET Proyect SIEMPRE. After completing his Ph.D. in 2013, Javier is working back in Chile as an academic of the Music and Sonology Department of Universidad de Chile
