Biography

Dr. Liu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Liu has more than 17 years of experience in studying the molecular chaperone grp94 and its role in chaperoning Toll-like receptors and modulating the immune response. Dr. Liu has been broadly trained in molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, and immunology. She has published more than 60 papers in the areas of innate immunity, cancer immunity, and immune tolerance. The current focus of Dr. Liu’s research is to understand chaperone biology in dendritic cells and B cells in both normal and pathological conditions as well as the role of commensal-specific Th17 cells in regulating inflammation and cancer.

Research Interest

Innate immunity, mucosal immunology, cancer immunology, and cancer immunotherapy.
