Biography

Dr. Pistos has graduated from the department of pharmacy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) on 1995, before he pursued his M.Sc. and Ph.D. studies in the fields of Pharmaceutical Analysis/Quality Control of Drugs and Pharmaceutics, respectively, at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece). On 2001-2002 he served as a postdoctoral fellow at the College of Pharmacy of the University of Georgia Athens, GA (U.S.A.), before becoming for several years director of ILS SA, a private CRO pharmaceutical company in Greece. Between 2006 and 2012, he possessed the position of Lecturer and by 2012 of Assistant Professor in Toxicology at the laboratory of forensic medicine and toxicology of the School of Medicine at the University of Athens in Greece. In addition to his teaching and research activities, throughout this period he served also as Associate Quality Assurance Manager and by 2011 Quality Assurance Manager of the accredited according to the ISO 17025 standard forensic toxicology laboratory. He handled numerous toxicological cases preparing toxicological reports for the Ministry of Justice in Greece, and he served as member of the Greek Accreditation System’s (E.SY.D.) committee for laboratories/auditor of toxicological laboratories. By August 2015 he possesses the position of Assistant Professor of Toxicology at the Department of Chemistry at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, U.S.A. He has published fifty one articles in peer scientific journals, four chapters in international publishers and presented thirty five research work in scientific congresses, in the field of toxicology and bio-pharmaceutical analysis.
