Biography

Dr. Yigang Tong graduated from Fudan University and received Postdoctoral training in the University of British Columbia, where he was honored with Michael Smith Award. He is a member of Chinese Medical Association, as well as Chinese Society of Microbiology. He is currently a professor in State Key Laboratory of Pathogen and Biosecurity, Beijing Institute of Microbiology and Epidemiology.

Research Interest

Interested in the evolutionary studies on etiologic agents of emerging infectious diseases, using high throughput sequencing techniques and bioinformatics approaches for novel pathogen identification and characterization, antibody engineering for infectious disease prevention and control, and bacteriophage based prevention and treatment of multi-drug resistance bacterial infections.
