Biography

Dr. Yahong Li, JSD and JSM (Stanford), JD (Suffolk), PDip (Beijing), LLB (Southwest), is an Associate Professor and Deputy Head at the Department of Law, the University of Hong Kong. She is also an Associate Director at Technology Transfer Office of the University of Hong Kong. She teaches International and Comparative Intellectual Property Law, Intellectual Property, Innovation and Development, Management and Commercialization of IP, and PRC Tort Law, and served as a Director for LLM Program in IP/IT from 2004 to 2010. She is also a Council Member of Intellectual Property Law Association of China Law Society, Honorary Advisor of Hong Kong Institute for Patent Attorneys, and Co-Legal Lead of HK Creative Commons. Prior to joining HKU, she was a visiting scholar at Harvard University, a software licensing administrator at MIT, and a research staff at Legislative Affairs Commission of China’s National People’s Congress. She was invited as a visiting scholar or professor Santa Clara University Law School, Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property and Competition, Melbourne University Law School, and a guest professor at Jinan University School of Intellectual Property. She is an author of Imitation to Innovation in China: the Role of Patents in Biotech and Pharmaceutical Industries (Edward Elgar, 2010) and International and Comparative Intellectual Property: Law, Policy and Practice (LexisNexis, 2005), along with numerous other journal articles and book chapters.
