Biography

Dr. Weiya Ma earned her PhD degree from Dept. of Pharmacology & Therapeutics, McGill University in 1996. Then she did two postdoctoral fellowships in Queen’s University and McGill University in Canada (1995-2000). She went to Wake Forest University, North Carolina, USA to take a research faculty position (2000-2003). In 2004, she came back to work in Douglas Mental Health University Institute, McGill University to work as a research associate. In 2008, she was appointed as an assistant professor in Dept. of Psychiatry and Douglas Mental Health University Institute, McGill University.
She has successfully secured operating grants from national funding agency such as Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and Natural Science and Technology Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

Research Interest

She is leading a vigorous research team which focuses on exploring the role of PGE2 in the genesis of chronic pain states. She is well recognized in her field.
