Biography

Vaidutis Kučinskas, Prof., PhD, Habil.dr., full member of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, Scientific director of the Human Genome Research Centre, Professor and Chief Research Fellow at the Department of Human and Medical Genetics of the Faculty of Medicine of Vilnius University, and Consultant Professor – medical geneticist at the Centre for Medical Genetics of the Vilnius University Hospital Santariskiu Klinikos. He is renowned for his research in the areas of medical and population genetics. He has given numerous lectures in Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, China, Israel, and Taiwan, authored and co-authored over 600 publications, published 13 books and monograph "Genome diversity: Lithuanians in Europe", guided the research of numerous graduate students and postdoctoral scientists. Among his numerous awards are the Lithuanian Science Prize, award for the best textbook for higher education and scholarship of the highest category, established by the government of the Republic of Lithuania, and many other acknowledgments.
