Biography

Dr. Uyen Le obtained her bachelor of sciences in pharmacy in 1998 and master’s degree in industrial pharmacy, pharmaceutical chemistry, and pharmaceutics in 2003, both from Hochiminh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Vietnam. She received her Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences, major in pharmaceutics and minor in statistics, in 2008 from Oregon State University. Since 2008, Dr. Le has been involved in coordinating and teaching different courses of pharmaceutics, compounding lab, pharmacokinetics, and advanced compounding. Dr. Le formulated long-circulating liposomes for potential application of gadolinium-neutron capture therapy. She delivered liposomes encapsulating a synthetic double-stranded RNA synergistically with gemcitabine for the chemo-immunotherapy and radio-immunotherapy of cancers. Recently, Dr. Le has successfully developed liposomal gabapentin for transdermal delivery, liposomes simultaneously containing gemcitabine and curcumin, and EGFR-targeted liposomal curcumin for the pancreatic cancer. Her areas of interest are drug delivery, drug formulation, drug target, nanotechnology, cancer research, pharmaceutical compounding, and biopharmaceutics/pharmacokinetics.
