Biography

Dr. Tiago S. Hori did his bachelor degree in Biology at the Federal University of Sao Carlos, Brazil, which he followed with masters in Genetics and Evolution at the same University in collaboration with them National Research Council of Canada In Halifax. During his masters he studied the impacts of phenolic compound in Amazonian fish. It was during his time in Canada that he was invited to be a part of the Multi-million Genome Canada funded Cod Genomics and Broodstock Development project as a PhD student. During his PhD he used functional genomics to study areas relevant to aquaculture such as stress physiology and immunity of Atlantic cod. He is currently a post-­Ã¢â‚¬Âdoctoral fellow at Memorial University (Newfoundland, Canada) working on projects aimed at generating knowledge that can improve in fish culture. These include developing alternative feeds made with plant protein and use of genetic modified fish in aquaculture.

Research Interest

Cod genomics, Functional genomics, aquaculture and Atlantic Cod immunity and physiology.
