Biography

Syed Imteyaz Alam has completed his Ph.D. in Microbiology and is currently working as Scientist D and Assistant Director at Defence Research and Development Establishment, Gwalior, India. He is working towards elucidation of marker proteins from clostridial pathogens using proteomic methodologies. Protein candidates with vaccine potential and detection targets were described by identification of proteins from different proteomic fractions of the pathogenic bacteria. He has used 2DE-MS approach to elucidate disease pathogenesis and vaccine candidates for important pathogenic microorganisms including Clostridium perfringens. He has made significant contribution in elucidation of microbial diversity in cold habitats, including Antarctica and Himalayas. Dr. Alam has described two new bacterial species from Antarctica with biotechnological potentials. He has published 42 papers in reputed journals.
