Biography

Steven A. Koehler, MPH., Ph.D., is a Forensic Epidemiologist, an Associate Professor of Epidemiology, and Director of a Forensic Medical Investigations, LLC a Consulting company. His expertise is in the fields of forensic epidemiology, death investigation, forensic investigation, public health, and research. He was the former head of the Forensic Epidemiological Department and the Chief Forensic Epidemiologists at the Allegheny County Medical Examiners Office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He teaches forensic epidemiology, forensic science, and research methods and how to conduct research within forensic science. Dr. Koehler has a B.S in Biology and Psychology from Washington and Jefferson College, a MPH in Public Health and a Ph.D. in Forensic Epidemiology. He is an adjunct associate professor of epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health and at the Duquesne School of Law. He held seats on the Suicide Death Review committee, Child Death Review committee, the Firearm Death Review board, and the Internal Monitoring Committee for the Center for Injury Research and Control. He is one of the founding members of the Journal of Forensic Nursing. He is also services on the editor board and a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals. He is listed in Who’s Who in Medicine and Health. He has presented at numerous conferences including the National Injury Prevention & Injury Conference, International Associated of Forensic Nurses, National Medical Examiner Association, US and Canadian Academy of Pathology, Food and Drug Administration, and the American Academy of Neurology.
