Dr. Shafi Mohammad Tareq completed B.Sc. (hons) and M.Sc. from Department of Chemistry, Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. He obtained M.S. from Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences and awarded D.Sc. from Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Nagoya University, Japan. Dr. Tareq also completed Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) from the University of Nottingham and become a fellow of higher education academy, UK. He is an environmental Hydro-biogeochemist by training, and has been involved in multi-disciplinary research since 1995. In his early career, he worked as a Japanese Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) postdoctoral fellow at Nagoya University and the University of Shiga Prefecture. He also worked as a Chair and Professor, department of Environmental Sciences, Jahangirnagar University and adjunct faculty at the University of Shiga Prefecture, Japan and North South University, Bangladesh. He has published significant papers on arsenic pollution in groundwater of Bangladesh and Nepal as well as paleovegetation and climate changes in tropical and sub-tropical areas. Dr. Tareq worked as a visiting researcher in the University of Shiga Prefecture and Hokkaido University, Japan. He also worked as commonwealth academic fellow at the University of Birmingham, UK. He got very prestigious Bangladesh Academy of Science and the World Academy of Science (BAS-TWAS) young scientist gold medal, 2013 for his outstanding contribution to national science and technology. To date, he has been published more than fifty papers in refereed journals (with total citation more than 725 and h-index 12) and contributed several chapters in books published by international publishing house like Elsevier and Springer. He presented his research in many international conferences in Asia, Australia, Europe and North America.
